Carolyn and Kenny’s DC Wedding
My goodness, this wedding. (And I’m going to have to do an entirely separate blog post about the Rehearsal Dinner, because this weekend was just that incredible). I will always have a special place in my heart for Carolyn and Kenny, their families, and the bridal party because they were my first clients when I went out on my own. I think I met them 19 days after I officially launched. They are such a lovely couple, so in love, and dreaming of a classic, beautiful DC wedding.

The Wedding & Ceremony Venues
After a postponement to 2021 (thank you, Covid), Carolyn, Kenny and their families and friends gathered for a September wedding at St. Aloysius Gonzaga and the InterContinental Washington DC at the Wharf. And what a gorgeous weekend it was. The morning began with the ladies getting ready directly upstairs from the guys. Both rooms were filled with music, food, a little bit of pool for the guys, and some mimosas to start the celebrations.

The wedding party headed to the Supreme Court for photos and an iconic DC first look for the bride and groom at the Supreme Court. (Side note – one of my favorite moments of the day was when the incredibly polite groomsmen were trying to hide a case of beverages they were carrying to the limo. Not my first wedding rodeo, gents!).
From there, they headed to St. Aloysius on the Gonzaga College High School campus (alma mater of the groom) for a beautiful, traditional church wedding.

And as the sun was starting to set, back to the InterContinental for an elegant, thoughtful, meaningful, and fun reception filled with great food and drink (lobster salads for an appetizer, anyone?), the cutest mini desserts, and even a signature cocktail named after their adorable pup, Daisy.

Then, to top off the evening, Carolyn arranged the ultimate surprise for her Washington Nationals-loving husband: a visit from the mascots.
I am so happy that Emily, the wedding photographer, caught the moment Kenny saw them run in because it just capped off an amazing day filled with love, laughter, family, and friends.
At the end of the evening, Kenny said that I wasn’t getting rid of them and I’m so happy he said that. I can’t wait to see the life that these two create together. Love you both!
